The Investor process sparked a revolution in the way Itac Ltdregarded training and progress. Managing director Mr Paul Armitt said: "Traditionally, as an old family firm, training had not been a priority. The pace of change is particularly rapid in the chemical industry and Itac Ltd has discovered the importance of the continuous improvement culture that is promoted by Investors in People.

The local firm received help through the Investors programme from Bolton and Bury Chamber.

Karen Hall, part of the Chamber's workforce development team, said: "Investors in People has reinforced the modernisation programme already in place at Itac. They must be congratulated for their commitment to making Investors work."

Mr Armitt added: "The biggest change for us has been a change in attitudes. Members of staff are encouraged to train and develop and they know they can make a real contribution to this company."
