DARREN Jepson, 24, of Shaw Close, Darwen, was bailed until March 8 by Blackburn magistrates after pleading guilty to causing £300-worth of damage to a Ford Orion.
Simon Farnsworth, defending, said his client accepted damaging the vehicle but not the amount claimed.
"The car is D-registered and, while I am not an expert on car prices, my client tells me the entire car would not be worth that amount," said Mr Farnsworth. "He also tells me he has seen the car in the last couple of days and the damage has not been repaired."
The case was adjourned for evidence to be provided in support of the claim.
