LEIGH ATHLETIC are facing cup joy and league despair.
Their poor league form continued with a 1-0 loss at Chadderton, the team showing a lack of confidence in both attack and defence.
However, a 2-1 home win against Jubilee Hotel took them to the semi-final of the Carlsberg North West Cup.
And they had to bounce back from a goal down, hitting the bar FOUR times before taking the game in extra-time.
Great stuff from Steve Hilton in goal, Barclay, Stead and Spowart held strong at the back, Bowman and Walker in the middle, and goals from Sumner and Wilson.
LEIGH BOROUGH snatched a late 4-3 winner against previously unbeaten Pierpoints, the goals from Prescott 2, Edwards and Lumb. MoM Andy Pennington.
DAISY HILL Reserves won 1-0 at Ashton Town, thanks to an og and a fine performance from Mark Williams.
A NEW five-a-side soccer challenge will be held at the Premier Fives in Bolton on February 27, the top team winning a trip to Edinburgh. Entrance fee for this Lancashire-wide comp is £30. Info pack on 01204-525333.
