BURNLEY: An early plea has gone out for anyone wanting to take part in this year's St George's Day celebrations in Towneley Park to contact with the organisers.
Plans for the event, now in its eighth year, are already well under way. Arrangements have been made for the Army to give a display and for the Foals and Horses sanctuary at Oswaldtwistle to attend with some of the animals.
The event has grown each year since it was started by a small group of friends who formed the Committee for the Commemoration of St George.
Chairman Mark Robinson said last year's event was a virtual wash-out but he hoped they would be rewarded with better weather this year on Sunday, April 23.
Anyone interested in staging attractions or having a stall should contact Mark as soon as possible on 01282 710598 or 07790957847.
