HOUSEHOLDER Val Smith suffered burns to her arms as fire swept through the bedroom of her Crawshawbooth home.
Mrs Smith escaped from the house and was treated by paramedics at the scene, but refused hospital treatment.
Rawtenstall firefighters found the bedroom well alight when they arrived at the house in Folly Terrace, Goodshaw Lane, shortly before 10am on Saturday.
They used a hose reel jet to tackle the fire and cleared the smoke-logged house with a ventilation unit.
Fire destroyed most of the bedroom contents and caused severe heat and smoke damage to other parts of the first floor.
It is thought the blaze was caused by an overheated hair dryer.
