AN early morning telephone call from her distressed daughter alerted Rossendale and Darwen MP to a burglary at her south London home.
Mrs Anderson, the Minister for Broadcasting, Tourism and Pop Music, rushed from her constituency home in Darwen after Katy discovered the break-in at 12.30am on Saturday.
"It was a minor break-in and nothing of importance was taken," said Mrs Anderson. "I immediately drove back to London. It was a case where family had to take precedence over constituency."
The incident forced Mrs Anderson to miss a production of Mother Goose by Rossendale Amateur Youth Society at All Saints School, in Rawtenstall. She was also supposed to present a child of achievement award at C & A in Bolton.
Mrs Anderson added: "I have been in touch with the youth society to apologise and will be making separate arrangements to see the child of achievement to make amends."
