SATURDAY Wright Fever hit Turf Moor at the weekend as ex-England striker Ian Wright made his eagerly anticipated debut in a Burnley shirt.
A crowd of 20,435 - the Second Division's biggest gate of the season - gave the 36-year-old a hero's welcome as he emerged from the players' tunnel to an explosion of flashlights.
And though he couldn't reward his new adoring fan club with a goal, Wrightmania certainly brought a buzz back to the terraces at Turf Moor.
Fans swamped the club shop before kick-off, frantically snapping up Burnley shirts bearing the name Wright and his new number 33.
And the bookies around the ground did big business as punters scrambled to back Wright at 13/8 to score the first goal.
But Wigan keeper Roy Carroll stood between them and pay-out by pulling off a string of fine saves to deny Wright a dream debut.
