POLICE are searching for two teenage girls from Burnley and Pendle who have been missing from home for several days.

Extensive inquiries have failed to reveal the whereabouts of Stephanie Turton, 15, of the Warings, Nelson, who went missing on February 14, or of Sarah Ann Blackett, 14, who has not been seen since leaving home in Grassington Drive, Burnley, the following day.

The girls are thought to be in the Nelson area and police say they are becoming increasingly concerned over their well-being.

Today they appealed for the teenagers to contact their homes or the police to confirm their safety.

A police spokesman said: "We have made extensive inquiries with families and friends."

Sarah is 5ft tall, slim with fair complexion, brown eyes and blonde straight hair usually tied back. She was wearing a navy track suit, white Reebok trainers, a navy adidas jacket and carrying a Nike bag.

Stephanie is slim, with a clear complexion and brown hair. She was wearing black trousers and a red and white jacket and had a ring on each finger and six rings in her right ear.
