YOUNGSTERS from sea, army and air training cadet forces in Lancashire raised £19,000 during the county's Lord Lieutenant's Cadet Poppy Appeal Competition. Prizes were awarded by Lord Shuttleworth to cadets who raised most money. The Blackburn Unit won the Sea Cadet Corps prize with Burnley, Pendle & Rossendale Unit runner-up. In the Air Training Corps section, Blackburn came second. The competition was sponsored by BAE Systems and the presentations took place at the firm's Samlesbury site.
