A 20 PER CENT rise in membership made it a good year for Burnley Lane Credit Union. The voluntary savings and cut-price loans group, founded in 1990, also saw assets grow 17 per cent to £75,000 in the year to September, the annual meeting heard.
In addition, loans to members were up 24 per cent, with £61,000 handed out to 96 of the 288 members. The annual meeting, attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Burnley, Coun Eddie Fisk and Mrs Pat Chadwick (above), in St John's Parish Hall, Ivy Street, heard Burnley Lane had been working closely with Brunlea Community Credit Union to make credit union facilities available to all the people of Burnley.
