PLANS to send blankets to Kashmir later in the year were discussed at a sub-committee meeting at Nelson Town Hall last night.
A report, detailing the discussion, will be presented to the Kashmir Working Group and the Pendle Working Group will give a presentation to Burnley Borough Council tomorrow. It was decided that the focus for the project should be on just one item and that it should be blankets in preparation for next winter.
Member of the Kashmir Working Group, Abdullah Zaid said: "There are a possible 35,000 refugees who need aid but we can't help them all so we have chosen one particular camp in Manak Tayan.
"If we concentrate on single items - just blankets - it makes it easier because we don't have as many problems with transport and storage."
