A PROMINENT Labour Party worker and daughter of a Blackburn councillor has died after a short illness aged 46.
Kathleen Youds, daughter of Corporation Park ward Coun Dorothy Walsh, died on Saturday at the Royal Preston Hospital.
A former pupil of Our Lady and St John School, Kathleen, of Douglas Place, Blackburn, spent most of her working life at the Royal Ordnance Factory at Stopes Brow.
She followed her mother into the Labour Party and worked on many of her election and other campaigns.
Mrs Youds worked for many years in the voluntary sector and with the Macmillan Nurses.
Until a year ago she was landlady of the Pump Handle pub in Whalley New Road, Blackburn.
Her mother said: "She will be very sadly missed because she was known to many people as a caring volunteer.
"She will also be missed by us. She was our anchor when her father Thomas died.
She leaves two daughters and a son, Samantha, Christina and Damien.
She also leaves two sisters and three brothers, Dot, Barbara, Michael, John and David.
Her funeral will take place at St Joseph's RC Church, Audley Range, on Monday at 10.30am.
