PARTY-GOER Neil Perry suffered multiple fractures of his eye socket and cheekbone, a broken nose and a dropped eyeball after a single punch from Curtis Lee Brunker in an unprovoked attack, a court was told.

At Blackburn magistrates court, Brunker, 28, of Mayfield Avenue, Clitheroe, pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm on Mr Perry and he was remanded on bail until March 13 for the preparation of pre-sentence reports.

Clare Fanning, prosecuting, said Mr Perry was at a party attended by Brunker and his wife, whom Mr Perry had known a few years earlier.

Mr Perry's girlfriend became ill and Brunker's wife went over to tell Mr Perry about it. Mr Perry was sitting in the rear yard when Brunker suddenly lunged at him, knocking him to the ground. Brunker was restrained by others and Mr Perry was taken to hospital.

When interviewed Brunker told the police there had been ill-feeling between him and Mr Perry for years.

He saw his wife talking to Mr Perry and when he saw her get pushed he felt aggrieved and punched Mr Perry as hard as he could.
