ASIAN wedding dresses from 1950 to the present day have gone on show at a special touring exhibition in Burnley.

Eastern Ties, organised by Age Concern's Shamim Hussain, features 16 outfits, one of them from the '50s flown in especially from Pakistan.

The display also features new bride and groom wedding garments which will be used later this year and which have been loaned to the exhibition by the Poshaak boutique in Blackburn.

The project has backing from several East Lancashire cultural and council bodies and the library service.

The display will be on show at Daneshouse Centre until Saturday, before moving on to Nelson and Colne libraries between March 1 and 11.

The exhibition will be at Blackburn library from March 13 to 24 and at Haslingden library from March 28 to 31.
