PARACHUTE fabric firm chief Garry Baines (pictured) is flying high after being appointed deputy managing director of Padiham-based Perseverance Mills Ltd.
Garry joined the firm 15 years ago as European sales manager and after being appointed to the board in 1990, spearheaded new business plans and aggressive sales and marketing initiatives to grow and develop international sales.
Following its acquisition by The Padiham Group in 1998, Perseverance sales have continued to grow to over £16million and is currently the world's largest supplier of fabric to the sports parachute market.
Perseverance has plants in Padiham and Blackburn and the parent Padiham Group has a turnover in excess of £40million.
Welcoming former sales and marketing director Garry to his new position, managing director Keith Chapman said: "His vision will drive the company forward in the future into new and exciting areas."
Said Garry: "The continued investment from the Padiham Group will allow growth in overseas markets and the development of distinct branded technical products.
"I am really looking forward to some interesting new prospects in the months to come."
