TEENAGERS have been urged to take up their last chance to get immunised against the deadly meningitis virus.
Two more sessions are being held for East Lancashire teenagers aged 15 to 17 to be immunised with the new vaccine against group C meningococcal disease.
Vaccination of 15 to 17 year olds began in January, but the East Lancashire Health Authority believes some teenagers have not yet received the jab.
Health workers are urging everyone who missed previous sessions to go along to St Nicholas Health Centre, Burnley, between 5pm and 7pm on Thursday, March 2, or to the Montague Health Centre, Blackburn, between 5pm and 7pm on Tuesday, March 7.
The vaccine provides protection against meningitis and septicaemia caused by the group C germ, which is responsible for about 40 per cent of cases. About 1,500 people in England and Wales are seriously ill every year with this infection.
