SHARP-eyed Jessica Hurley has already found out that diamonds are a girl's best friend.
Jessica, six, spotted a £1,300 jewel on the floor of a Blackburn church hall as she played with friends at a Rainbow Brownies group.
Jessica said: "I saw something glittering on the floor and I just picked it up."
At first mum Caroline didn't believe it was a diamond when Jessica showed it to her at her Roe Lee home, Blackburn.
But Blackburn jewellers Ainsworth and Sons confirmed it was an excellent quality white diamond weighing half a carat, which may have fallen out of a ring.
Caroline said: "I just couldn't believe it when they said how much it was worth.
"I asked Blackburn police but they said no one had reported having lost it."
Caroline plans to contact other users of the church hall and hopes the owner will come forward to claim it.
Anyone who believes the gem may be theirs can contact Caroline on 01254 662909.
