BRUNSHAW residents are to march through the town in protest at plans to erect a 50ft high phone mast at a Burnley beauty spot.
The march was announced after members of Burnley Council agreed to defer the decision on an application to lease land in Springwood Road from mobile telephone network One-2-One.
Coun Andrew Holder told Burnley Council the telecommunications pole on land above Towneley Park near to Johnson's Garden Nurseries would be a monstrosity.
Residents will meet at The Brunshaw pub tonight to discuss protest plans.
Coun Holder said a petition had already been signed by over 200 people and more were expected.
"The feeling of the public is one of rage," said Coun Holder.
When the topic was next discussed by council on March 14 residents intended to march from the central library via the police station to the Town Hall to present the petition.
