ENGINE giant Rolls-Royce plc has won a £50million order.

The firm is to supply Trent 700 engines to power three additional Airbus Industrie A330 aircraft for Hong Kong-based Dragonair.

The firm's Barnoldswick site manufactures wide chord fan blades for the engines.

The latest order was announced today at the Asian Aerospace 2000 exhibition in Singapore.

Mark King, Rolls-Royce senior vice-president - Airlines, North Asia, said: "Dragonair's decision reflects the strengthening of the Asia Pacific market. The Trent family has established a significant presence in the region.

Dragonair currently operates an all-Airbus fleet of five Trent 700-powered A330-300s in addition to five A320-200s and two A321-200s with V2500 engines produced by International Aero Engines (IAE), in which Rolls-Royce is a leading shareholder.
