PRESTON teenager Josh Tompkins will take on the world in the World Biathlon Championships in South Africa.
Josh, 16, from Fulwood, was picked to take part in the event after winning the 1999 National Biathlon at Bath University.
He is optimistic about his chances at Port Elizabeth, saying: "I hope to get in the top 10 at least."
The running and swimming event isn't the only thing on Josh's mind, he said.
"I wouldn't mind going surfing while I am out there, as it is supposed to have some of the best spots in the world, and lots of sharks too!"
