THE brakes could be put on a Leyland lad's dream of follow in Carl Fogarty's footsteps after he was told to find somewhere else to practise his motorbike racing.
The news that the Trough of Bowland's Pilling Beach is no longer available has taken the shine off the start of nine-year-old Jonathan Cuming's year, which has already seen him win one of the region's top motorcycling awards.
Jonathan, pictured, scooped the ACU trophy for the best achievement by a rider in any motorcycle sport in the North West after sweeping the board in the North Grasstrack championships last year.
Jonathan, from Farington, is youngest rider to ever receive the award, which has been given to the like of motorbike legend Carl Fogarty.
His parents are determined he will continue to do well this year as he moves up to the junior 100cc class.
Dad Dave, of Rose Street, said: "The only problem is that we may not be able to use Pilling Beach this year.
"We are more than happy to pay to use a field, but it is just a case of finding it."
He added: "Jonathan should have a quieter year now that he is moving up a grade, but after collecting every award in grasstrack last year, it is time for a change and a new challenge."
