U12: Hindley Giants 22, Leyland Warriors 14

ANOTHER good performance from the Warriors in a close and evenly contested game. The lead had changed hands throughout, but Hindley snatched a win with a score in the dying moments. Good efforts were shown by man of the match Martin Bishop and top tackler Kristian Hodson was also one of the try scorers.

U14: Leyland Warriors 4, Saddleworth 34

THE U14s made a good start against Saddleworth working hard in the first 20 minutes, but injuries to captain Tom Farrimond and scrum-half Stuart Brown reduced the team to eleven men for the rest of the game. Man of the match was James Franklin and Jamie Jackson runner-up. Top tackler went to Sam Hyams. U15: Leyland Warriors 30, Blackbrook 0

THE Warriors hosted Blackbrook for their last league game of the season and won convincingly. Warriors took the lead from the kick-off and never let the opposition have a look in.

The Warriors forwards dominated, putting Blackbrook on the back foot with man-of-the-match Jim Johnson and top tackler John Cookson leading the way. Scorers were Mark Richards, Paul Lorenzen, Shaun Taylor, Shaun Coathup, Dan Lofthouse, Sam Harrison and Lee Bellingham.

U16: Leyland Warriors 36, Halton Hornets 14

WARRIORS completed the league double over the Widnes-based team with an improved team performance in defence and attack and celebrated a return to winning ways with some polished handling and tenacious tackling. Man of the match Rhys Patterson led the Warriors pack with a powerful display which included two tries from the prop. Other scorers were Anthony Hughes, David Melling, Phil Jones, Paul Cowling and Paul Brown. Conversions were added by Anthony Hughes. Ryan Terry topped the tackle count impressing in the second row having switched from the wing.
