DOES anyone know the secret of the brick-lined tunnel which once ran below Prescot?
That's the odd query from Anthony Eden of Kitchener Street, St Helens, who explains: "When I worked at the St Helens Salvation Army hostel in 1990, one of the long-term residents told me about making this discovery while working as a tunneller."
The old fellow had no idea where it led to or from, and he said the tunnel had been later filled in.
But Anthony remains intrigued. Can anyone put him out of his agony?
