AT last someone with an inspired suggestion for regenerating Morecambe. Well done, Chris Hart! (Citizen letters, February 17).
There must be many more people like me who welcome his suggestions.
Along with other lovers of sea and lakes I retired here to be near to both, and cannot believe that we incomers outdo the locals in our love of the area.
My own hope has long been that members of the artistic community living in Cumbria and in hamlets and villages around the Bay might be encouraged to set up workshops and studios here, and thus give Morecambe another dimension.
Consider how the superb statue of Eric Morecambe has encouraged visitors to the Bay. Morecambe, sited here with the wonderful view of the Lakeland hills, cannot be bettered.
Surely there are enough of us to establish a focus group within which all our ideas for regeneration could be explored.
