SCHOOLS, Scouts and Santa will benefit from the latest round of Brighter Borough money for Atherton.

Schools will mark the new century with extra books in their libraries, Scouts from a camp and young children from a Christmas party.

A presentation will take place at the Dorset Road Community Centre, Hag Fold, next week when five primary and one secondary school will receive £500 each to buy extra books for the Millennium.

They are St George's, St Richard's, Meadowbank, Parklee, St Michael's, Howe Bridge, and Hesketh Fletcher CE High.

The Scouts will be awarded £550 towards their camp fund for a trip to Poland, where they will help out in a country village and join fellow Scouts for a grand jamboree.

Organisers of an under 11s Christmas party will receive £150 towards their 2000 costs.
