SOUTH Ribble MP David Borrow has launched a campaign to ensure pensioners claim the new benefits due in April.
The minimum income guarantee for pensioners will be increased in line with earnings from April to more than £78 per week for single pensioners and more than £121 for couples.
Mr Borrow said: "We want to help all pensioners while giving extra assistance to those most in need. There are a number of pensioners in South Ribble eligible for the minimum income guarantee but not claiming it.
"Our campaign in South Ribble is to raise awareness of extra help to pensioners."
With a winter fuel allowance of £100 and free television licences for the over-75s, the poorest pensioners could get nearly £20 more each week.
