IN response to an alleged attack on a Liberal Democrat MP, South Ribble's David Borrow believes he has found the key to remaining safe but stay in contact with his constituents . . . with his mobile surgery.

Unlike Lib Dem MP Nigel Jones, who was allegedly attacked by a man waving a samurai sword, MP Mr Borrow opted not to create a 'shop front' for his constituency office.

He said: "Instead we are inside the Leyland one-stop information centre, which has several offices, so my staff are never in a position of vulnerability."

Mr Borrow has recently started holding specialised surgeries for people with particular problems, in an attempt to eliminate the sort of risks so visibly encountered by MP Nigel Jones, whose assistant was killed during the attack.

Mr Borrow's neighbouring MP, Lindsay Hoyle, has recently received death threats.
