POLICE are hunting a couple who launched an arm raid on two Leyland betting shops within five minutes of each other on Friday afternoon.
The first was carried out at the Hough Lane branch of Ladbrokes at 5.30pm. A man grabbed a female member of staff and dragged her to the back of the shop before rifling through draws and grabbing cash. His female accomplice stood guard at the door throughout the raid. Staff say they he had a knife.
Minutes later, a man and woman burst into Ladbrokes in Chapel Brow, again holding staff at knifepoint before making off with cash. The woman was 5ft 2ins tall, in her late 20s, slim, with shoulder-length light brown hair. She was wearing light-coloured clothes and a wool hat.
The man was in his early 30s, 5ft 4ins tall, and looked gaunt. He was wearing dark clothing and a wool hat.
Anyone with information is urged to call Leyland Police on (01772) 433561.
