KING Edward VII and Queen Mary School in Lytham received a "blast from the past" recently, after staging its annual history knowledge competition.
Nearly 100 pupils took part in the Young Historian of the Year quiz, which posed taxing questions about a range of people and events since the dawn of time.
Principal Julian Wilde explained the competition gave pupils at the school "a chance to show off their special skills and general knowledge" as well as injecting a sense of fun into history.
And when it came down to a battle between the three finalists, all seemed determined to be the "reigning" champion, as numerous tie-breaker rounds failed to establish a clear winner.
In the end James Dangerfield, Charlotte Kearsley and Rachel Leadbetter shared the title and the trophy.
