THE Scorpions conceded a try in the opening minutes before they had even touched the ball against Bamber Bridge who ran out 32-18 winners.

They kicked off to Bamber Bridge then gave away an unnecessary penalty on the last tackle. From the resulting field position Bamber Bridge scored.

The Scorpions recovered from this early set-back when Craig Campbell kicked a penalty. Then winger Paul Canavan squirmed his way out of three tackled for an excellent try to give the Scorpions a lead of 6-4.

However, slack marking allowed the Bamber Bridge scrum-half to score two tries.

Danny Padgett, playing his first game for a month, created an opening for Jamie Ashworth to score. Campbell converted to pull the score back to 16-12.

Poor tackling allowed Bamber Bridge to score another try just before the break to lead 20-12 at half-time.

In the second-half Bridge confirmed their superiority by notching two more tries to make the score 32-12.

Veteran Dave Gavaghan came on for the last 20 minutes and the Scorpions seemed to settle down and their play was more organised.

Gavaghan's son, Neil gave a good ball to Paul Gamble who made a break then passed to the supporting Dave Ratcliffe who scored near the posts. Campbell converted to make the final score 32-18.
