MOBILE phone company Mercury One to One is to be allowed to build a 75-feet high telecommunications mast at Dentons Green.
A Government planning inspector has allowed an appeal against the refusal of St Helens Council to grant planning permission for the tower at the Ruskin Leisure complex in Ruskin Drive.
The company plan to build the mast in place of one of the floodlighting towers adjacent to the all-weather sports pitch.
The inspector accepted it would be taller and bulkier. But he did not accept its impact on the general character and appearance of the area would be unacceptable.
