THE police are to stage random speed tests at accident blackspots in Newton, Haydock and Parr in a bid to make them safer.
As well as targeting speeding motorists, officers will be looking at inconsiderate drivers who cause obstructions when they park.
Sergeant Tommy Duffy of Newton-le-Willows police station, said: "We will be targeting speeding drivers and inconsiderate motorists who cause an obstruction to other drivers when the park their vehicle.
"Haydock has a particular problem with people parking on the main streets and causing problems for other drivers. I would urge anyone who has a driveway but insists on using the roads to park, to use their driveways."
