GRANTS from Pendle Community Action Network have helped five environmental projects get off the ground.
Trawden Brownies secured a grant for £126 for their Millennium Mega Recycle, which aims to encourage children to re-use or recycle.
Nelson Walton Lane Nursery will receive £250 to create a sensory garden with fragrant flowers and water features. A further £250 has been allocated to Nelson Lomeshaye Day Nursery to create a small orchard and buy plants for an allotment.
The River Enhancement East Lancashire project receives £200 for a coracle building course, leading to a coracle race on the Leeds and Liverpool canal.
Community Action Network support worker Helen Blyth said: "We are on the lookout for exciting new projects from youth and community groups and schools in Pendle for our next round of awards in March.
"There is money and advice for anyone who wants to apply for a grant. Projects can include anything from tree planting and creating wildlife areas and ponds to community videos."
The deadline for applications is Friday, March 17. Details from Helen at Nelson Town Hall on 01282-661988.
