CLUBBERS and pub goers in Burnley were left stranded early today after taxi drivers went on strike.
Police in Burnley confirmed they were called to deal with the problem. A spokesman said: "There was some sort of dispute with the taxi drivers and the local authority concerning fee structure.
"The taxi drivers decided to withhold their services between midnight and 2am. There was one minor public order offence and the taxi drivers agreed to start operating again after a meeting was arranged to take place at the council on Monday."
Freelance photographer Susan Woodrup, 26, of Stuart Avenue, Stacksteads, was forced to wait nearly two hours before getting transport home. She had spent the night at the Mean Cats club with friends.
"It was chaos. Hundreds of people were just milling around," she explained.
"Nobody knew what was going on. It was cold so people were trying to flag down passing cars or going into the food shops."
