RESIDENTS fighting plans to erect a 50ft telephone mast above Burnley's Towneley Park, say they will actively support opposition to similar plans in other parts of town.
Around 40 angry Brunshaw residents attended a public meeting to voice opposition to a planning application by mobile telephone company One 2 One.
Local councillors Andrew Holder, Andy Rae, Phil Walsh and Tony Harrison attended and an explanation of the planning aspects of the application were provided by council development control officer David Ellis.
"It was a very useful meeting which expressed real concern over the plan," said Coun Holder. We are not just doing this to protect our area and residents say they will back any similar campaign against telephone masts anywhere else in the town."
Coun Holder said a petition against the proposal would be handed in to a town hall meeting of the economic and property committee after a march through town on March 14.
