CLITHEROE picked up another three FNWT League Division One points in a game where, in truth, there was only ever going to be one winner.
Steve Parry's side found themselves going through the motions for most of the 90 minutes, as struggling Bootle offered little opposition.
That said, the visitors managed to contain the Blues until, with 10 minutes left in the first half, a through ball from Jamie Webster sent Barry Hart on a determined run which culminated in a low cross and a tap-in at the far post for the arriving Darren Norman.
The game remained at 1-0 until the final 20 minutes, Barry Hart's penalty finally adding to a somewhat dour second half. Martyn Horsefield was the man brought down in the box as he attempted a sharp turn towards goal. Parry's side eventually rounded off the scoring with five minutes left on the clock. Steve Denny cutting inside from the right and scoring from the tightest of angles.
"I think they came here to try and block us out," said Parry. "They played very defensively and it worked for a long period of the first half. But without ever really turning it on, we kept plugging away and we got our reward with some well-taken goals."
