AS one who has not only got soaking wet waiting for a bus, but has also had to paddle through large puddles and take my life in my hands when trying to cross to the bottom of Infant Street, I thank you for your excellent article (LET, February 9) about Accrington's new bus station being branded a disaster.
It was not unexpected to find the present council leader trying to lay the blame on the last administration. And I see that the present Labour leader pointed out that no complaints were raised formerly.
So I wonder if I could point out that, while the leadership may have changed, the same officials, chief or otherwise, are still largely in situ, which leads to some simple questions.
Who exactly designed the present layout?
When was the design approved?
Where does it all appear in the council minutes, so that Joe Public can read all about it?
It is, perhaps, a little ironic that, while the present leader is seeking to blame others for the traffic tangle, he would not listen to, and thus cannot apportion any of it, to the one person with professional traffic experience, fellow councillor Adrian Shurmer.
