POLICE are hunting armed raiders who escaped with £25,000 from a supermarket on Saturday. The two men, wearing balaclavas and gloves, went into the Aldi Store, in Harpers Lane, Chorley, through an exit door as customers were leaving the store at about 4pm.
One of the men smashed a large glass window between the public till area and the manager's cash office and jumped up onto an exit gate, reached into the room and produced a pistol-type gun.
The manager and a Securicor guard suffered minor cuts and the raiders got away with two Securicor bags containing about £25,000 in cash. The men left the store, ran across the car park and a stream to the Central Tyres car park and then drove off in a stolen Red Mazda car.
The car, registration number H980 KEY, was later abandoned on The Crescent, Chorley.
The raiders arrived at the Aldi store in a Nissan 200, stolen from Bury on February 3, which they abandoned outside the shop.
Anybody with information should contact Chorley police on 01257 269021.
