UNDERCOVER police have swamped the area around Witton Park, Blackburn in a bid to track down a mystery gunman.
Two weeks after teenager Adam Hayes was blasted with a shotgun in a nearby street, police stepped up their efforts to trace his attacker.
Detectives have also called in 'Cracker' style psychological profilers.
Plain clothes police called at pubs on Friday in the area around Witton Park including the ones visited by Adam and his friends in the hours before the shooting.
Undercover officers also patrolled Witton Park in the hope they might spot anyone fitting the description of the gunman.
Adam, 17, from Redlam, was shot in the arm and chest following a row with the gunman in Preston Old Road, close to Witton Park.
After the shooting, shortly after midnight on the morning of Saturday, February 12, a huge manhunt was launched in the town.
Adam was with three friends when the attack took place and police have since revealed they are connecting the shooting to two other incidents.
In the weeks before the frightening showdown a man fitting the description was also involved in confrontations with two sets of teenagers in nearby Feniscliffe.
Detective Chief Inspector Mike Kellett said: "The early indications from the profilers is that this man is local."
The gunman is white, middle aged, with thick glasses, grey hair and around 5ft 9in. Anyone with information should ring the incident room on 01254 353562.
