I DO not recall casting my vote for the nameless auditor who apparently controls Hyndburn Council and who shows how weak our elected councillors are in failing to retain the outlying offices (LET, February 19).
As there are now more Labour councillors than Conservative ones, why has control of the council not changed?
Chaos reigns regarding the future composition of the council. The proposals of the council and those of the Local Government Commission are incompatible.
In any event, Rishton will be downgraded from second to third-class status. Perhaps, our four district councillors should consider their position.
G DUCKWORTH, Livesey Street, Rishton.
Footnote: Hyndburn is a hung council - 22 Tory, 22 Labour and one independent. There are two vacancies following the deaths of a Tory councillor and Labour councillor - Editor.
