A YOUNG Burnley teacher has been given top marks for her work with children and has been chosen as one of Lancashire's leading maths teachers. Melissa Potts, 25, who lives in the Rosehill area of Burnley, has been teaching at Healey Wood Infant School for almost two years.
This week she heard she was to play an important part in this year's National Year for Numeracy.
Teachers from across Lancashire will visit the school to observe Melissa's teaching and she will give demonstration lessons to show how it is done. Headteacher Diana Holden said: "We are very proud of her because it is a great honour not only for her but also for the school."
