FESTIVAL fever will hit East Lancashire next month with the arrival of the annual Festival of Speech, Music and Dance.
More than 300 entries were received for the speech and drama classes, on March 3 and 4, making this the largest festival section for up to 10 years. The music section with 330 entries, will take place on March 10 and 11.
Competitors have been drawn from Lancashire, Yorkshire, Cheshire and Cumbria.
The speech and drama classes are at Central Methodist Church, Burnley, and the music classes at St Peter's Church and Burnley Mechanics, concluding with a concert at the church on March 11.
One speech and one music entrant will also be chosen to represent Burnley Festival in the four-day Federation of Festivals' Millennium Festival, in Leeds, in November.
