FRANCES Brown (pictured) was today celebrating her 21st birthday - at the age of 84.
Frances, who lives at Wordsworth House private nursing home, Hapton, was born on February 29, 1916 and is actually 84, but she was celebrating only her 21st "official" birthday.
She said: "I never thought about it. I suppose my mother told me about leap year as a child, but it is not something I have thought about in recent years."
Blackburn-born Mrs Brown used to work at Newman slipper works in Blackburn.
Today she celebrated with a party at the home, and the home's new activities organiser, Peter Sturrock, dressed up in cowboy clothes with his guitar to organise a party singalong.
Tonight Frances is going out for a birthday meal with her grandchildren Darren and Gary.
