NEIL Bramwell (LET, February 10) went to great lengths on why Blackburn supporters should barrack Alan Shearer at every opportunity.
Would he now give his considered opinion as to how we should receive Colin Hendry if he ever plays against us at Ewood Park?
Both had their reasons for leaving us for much bigger and more-ambitious clubs (even if it hasn't turned out to their advantage, especially in Colin's case).
As to timing, I would suggest that Colin left us in an even worse predicament than Alan, having just signed a new contract and with a new season upon us.
We never replaced either of them with anyone anywhere near their quality, hence our present position.
Both players gave us magnificent service and both deserve equal respect.
We should also remember that loyalty works both ways and players know that when it suits the club, they will be transferred out, just like Speedie, Ripley, Wilcox and Gallacher, none of whom wanted to leave.
Is it any wonder that players always have an eye on what is best for their future?
I watched the televised match between Middlesbrough and Aston Villa, which was ruined for me by the constant booing of Paul Merson by Middlesbrough fans.
Ironically, they finished up booing their own team who were soundly beaten.
Persistent booing is a disgrace and should not be encouraged.
