ANOTHER major investment has been made by an East Lancashire factory for Eurofighter Typhoon production.
Brookhouse Holdings of Darwen has bought a state-of-the-art 3D laser tracking machine to help the firm produce components for Eurofighter Typhoon to very high tolerances. It will also be used for other projects across the Brookhouse Group.
The Leica LTD500 machine takes three dimensional measurements at the rate of up to 1,000 a second. It will be used to provide highly accurate measurements of moulding tools and composite components at Brookhouse's India Mill site.
The machine is totally portable and can be transported between sites to carry out measurement work.
The investment is the latest being made in East Lancashire for production of the Eurofighter Typhoon which is being manufactured to tolerances previously unheard of in the aerospace industry.
More than £100million is being invested in BAE Systems' Samlesbury site for production of parts and several supplier companies across East Lancashire have invested in new equipment to manufacture components.
Brookhouse Holdings is now the largest independent composites manufacturing and assembly company in the country.
