AN after-school club has closed following a dispute between the tutor and organisers.
But Pauline Vaughan, of the Kumon Blackburn maths club, said she would decide today whether to continue teaching maths independently from Kumon Educational UK. Mrs Vaughan, who has run the Feilden Street centre since May 1993, is still waiting to hear from Kumon after appealing against their decision to terminate her franchise.
She said: "I am hoping I will have some response today. The centre is closed and, though I have appealed against their decision, it seems unlikely that it will reopen under the Kumon banner.
"I have to decide whether to reopen independently and I hope to make that decision today."
Kumon Educational UK said the reason for terminating Mrs Vaughan's contract was a private matter. They have arranged for pupils to continue their studies through correspondence and hope to open a new centre in Blackburn next month.
