BURNLEY'S Bertie Bee won the first derby battle when the Deepdale Duck chickened out of the great mascot showdown. Brave Bertie, pictured at Turf Moor today right, challenged the duck to a penalty shoot-out before Saturday's clash with Preston North End .
But the North End mascot ducked out of today's Press conference leaving fans buzzing.
Clarets spokesman Danny Reuben said: "Bertie is confident he will be unofficially the best mascot and will take on anyone."
Bertie has been in training with the Queen's Lancashire Regiment to get in shape for Saturday's showdown.
