STAN TERNENT wasn't too disappointed to miss out on the February manager-of-the-month award.

Ternent was pipped to the prize by Bristol City's caretaker boss Tony Fawthrop and said: "I'm glad. It's like the kiss of death !"

Traditionally the award sparks a downturn in fortunes and Ternent would rather his team gets nearer the finishing line first.

"I'll wait until March or April to win it," he added.

KEY defender Mitchell Thomas missed today's derby showdown with Preston but will be the last senior Clarets player to serve a ban for collecting five bookings after the cut-off point for the season passed in mid-week.

Any player receiving five yellow cards after the end of February will get just a warning from the FA.

A one-match ban will still be enforced for players reaching 10 bookings until the second Sunday in April but none of Ternent's squad is currently in danger of reaching that figure.

However, young midfielder Eammon Kelly has picked up a one-match ban for five bookings which comes into force next Tuesday.

STEVE Davis and Mitchell Thomas forced their way into the Opta Second Division team of the week thanks to their performances in the 2-1 win at Colchester last Saturday.

THE CLARETS youth team have qualified for the First Division merit table in the northern section of the Football League's Youth Alliance.

However, they were disappointed at being denied the opportunity of a place in the Premier Division when the league ruled that their last scheduled fixture against Oldham in the North-West Conference couldn't be played following a third postponement.

THE mini season ticket launched by the Clarets will come into effect for the first time for next Tuesday's visit of Luton Town.

The ticket will cover the last seven home games of the regular season and as well as guaranteeing entry for those will also give supporters the chance to buy their seat for next season.

Prices start from £38.50 for a junior sitting in the Jimmy McIlroy Stand Upper to £77 for an adult in the same area.
