BLUES-based artists and bands are sought by an East Lancashire music fan who hopes that promoting the genre could be the first step towards establishing his own record label.
Brian Wood, from Darwen, formerly ran Blackburn-based Magic Village Promotions.
He said: "I want to encourage and promote local talent through gigs and radio play.
"Hopefully it won't just be for purists, but for a wider audience. Blues, rhythm and blues and perhaps elements of soul, rock, gospel and even reggae could combine to make a terrific hybrid.
"Ultimately, I am looking to create a Blues Discovery record label in the same way Mike Vernon did with Blue Horizon in the 1960s."
