DAVID Moyes could without skipper Sean Gregan for tonight's Division Two clash with Colchester at Deepdale.

Moyes looked on in horror on Saturday as Burnley's Lennie Johnrose pole-axed the influential midfielder with a crunching tackle that left Gregan writhing in agony. But although the North End captain somehow escaped without serious injury, Gregan is unlikely to face the U's after having stitches in a gash down his left leg.

Moyes could instead recall David Eyres to the side, moving Rob Edwards infield to cover Gregan's absence. Ryan Kidd is expected to continue in defence.

Moyes must once again choose between five top strikers all gunning for two first team places. Top scorer John Macken is almost assured of a place, with Steve Basham, Bjarki Gunnlaugsson, on-loan Brett Angell and fit-again Kurt Nogan all hoping to partner the former Manchester United man.

Squad: Moilanen, Alexnader, Murdock, Jackson, Kidd, Anderson, Rankine, Edwards, Macken, Basham, Cartwright, Angell, Eyres, Gunnlaugsson, Lucas, Appleton, McKenna, Ludden, Diaf.
